The ones who are more diligent or stubborn keep on trying, but don really progress as far as they would really like to. The few who really get good are solving the problems that are holding them back from making real progress. The same thing is true of golf, skiing, chess, computers, or anything else thats worthwhile. You really just need a system that will bust the little barriers holding you back. This video teaches the process for making you succeed at mastering any musical instrument in any style of music. Following this procedure is the easiest way to learn. Note: This is a "Scripted Video"—every word was written like a screenplay—with hundreds of rewrites—until perfection was achieved. Then the dialog was read through a TelePrompter during the filming. This insures that no important details have been inadvertently left out of the production, and nothing is out of sequence. In other words; it is a very effective and well planned instructional product.

Reviews

From Acoustic Guitar Magazine January 2001 issue: If you’ve already made some progress in flatpicking solos but find yourself developing bad habits, you might want to check out Dan Huckabee’s “PERFECTING BLLUEGRASS GUITAR SOLOS.” Using the standard fiddle tune “COTTON PATCH RAG”, Huckabee presents a lesson in musicianship disguised as a simple guitar arrangement. Huckabee outlines more than 20 “secrets” designed to polish sloppy guitar playing to a high gloss. “Musicians are really finger athletes, “ Huckabee asserts. Over the course of the video, he explains how to lose unwanted tension in the body, practice with a metronome, & play slowly & quietly to build speed & volume. Practicing with the methodical, disciplined approach Huckabee outlines will help any player improve more quickly. --David McCarty (writer for Acoustic Guitar Magazine)

Customer Compliments

Any guitarist worth their salt is going to like this tutorial - IF they listen to what Dan Huckabee has to say. Huckabee is truly a wise and knowledgeable guitar teacher who will take the student through a very intelligent and clever approach to learning flatpicking bluegrass guitar. he is very good at breaking down the solo into sizeable chunks and he takes the student through every single pick-stroke needed to accomplish learning the solo. Moreover, (and you won't find this in the Hot Licks DVDs), he explores speed limitations, timing problems, right and left hand coordination, relaxing while playing, and cleverly working with a metronome. The senisble guitar student will see that Huckabee is one of those rare instructors who really understands and addresses all the needs of a student whether advanced, or an absolute beginner. His instruction will benefit any guitarist regardless of playing style or musical taste. The trick is to see that the piece he has selected to teach is well crafted and valuable in any guitar style. Huckabee will teach you the value of learning to play something right the first time around. I recommend this guy highly. John Magee

From Tony Watt interview featured in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine July/August 2007: "One of the breakthrough moments for Tony learning how to play lead came from Dan Huckabee's Beginners column in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine. Tony remembers, ' One of Dan Huckabee's columns had a transcription of Red Haired Boy and I sat down with that and for the first time figured out how to turn tablature into music. That was a Big Bang moment for me'"
